Honduras Las Peceras Washed
Our latest Direct Trade project features a COFFEE QUEST (US) x XELA collaboration from Honduras. This is our first single-origin coffee from Honduras, and our first step in our relationship with the Alvarado family. We have the same lot, processed 2 different ways, to display the difference between farm-level processing.
Finca Las Peceras is a single farm micro-lot from the Gualcinse region of Lempira in Honduras, and it is produced by Eva Alvarado.
The farm sits at an elevation of approximately 1,450-1500 m.a.s.l. and produces mainly the red-fruit Catuai Varietal. Las Peceras is organically fertilized and managed without the use of herbicides!
Eva takes extra care by planting mostly Pine and Guamo trees to shade & protect the coffees. In addition to coffee, Eva grows bananas, lemons and peaches, which greatly influence the taste profile of Las Peceras. The washed lots slow-dry for approximately 19 days after processing, achieving a sweet profile and full body.
The care and thought put into nurturing and processing this coffee imparts a radiant acidity, lush mouthfeel with Cane Sugar & White Grape tones.
